Tricycle operators popularly called KekeNapep and Shuttle Bus Drivers today grounded business activities at Unizik Junction
There is a serious gridlock at Unizik junction Awka, popularly known as Tempsite.
we gathered that the Shuttle Drivers shut down the expressway in protest of the new #25,000 monthly levy imposed on them by the Governor of Anambra State, Gov. Charles Soludo
Some of them who spoke to our correspondent claimed that majority of them cannot pay their house rent or eat properly after the struggles of the day let alone paying the Government such terrible amount. Others claimed that even after paying the #25,000 there are other levies of Unions that they must pay in a Month, leaving them with nothing at the end.
While the protest was ongoing, rumors of Tricycle (Keke Napep) protesting for same purpose next filtered the air. Tricycle Union said that their #15,000 monthly levy is outrageous.
The protest has completely halted all the activities around the area and left inter-state travelers stranded at Unizik junction.
