As part of effort to make existing laws more effective and accessible to the people who are often denied legal and moral representation due to the high cost of pursuing litigation’s to the slow process of the courts, some federal public complaints commissioners are seeking for International best practices to enhance it functions.
The Rivers State Federal Commissioner, Public Complaints Commission, Hon. Marshall Israel with his Abia, Kogi, and Ekiti State colleagues at the 14th Annual Conference of International Ombudsman Association in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States of America called for improved Global practices to addressing issues her Citizens.
The Public Complaints Commission is the Nigerian part of the global Ombudsman Institution. As a Nigerian Ombudsman, Hon. Marshall Israel is a member of International Ombudsman Association. He’s also a member of the African Ombudsman Association (AOMA) and also attended the AOMA Conference/ General Assembly as a Nigerian delegate in November 2018 in Kigali Rwanda, East Africa.
The Public Complaints Commission is an agency of the Federal government that has the mandate to investigate and address Complaints from citizens and residents in Nigeria against the government and all companies registered in Nigeria.
The Rivers State Commissioner, Public Complaints Commission Hon Marshal Israel at the sideline of the conference told newsmen that the conferences had afforded them the opportunity to interact towards conflicts resolutions and human relations
He urged residents in the state to leap for the opportunity and seek to getting complaints solved in his word “Don’t die in silence! Don’t take the laws into your hands! Come to Public Complaints Commission at 5th Floor, Federal Secretariat Complex Aba Road, Port Harcourt and lodge your Complaints and be rest assured of practical Justice at no cost’’
