Efforts of the Rivers state government to ensure that the Bori/ Saakpwenwa Road street lights takes off may be affected by activities of vandals.
Luck ran out of the vandals as Bori police division parades four suspects caught with some armored cables
The suspects are:
Legborsi Kabari “M” 27 yrs
Godgift Nnanha “M” 22 yrs
Gideon Leba “M” 18 yrs
Meeabari Obaame “M” 21 yrs
The suspects told our correspondent that they were engaged as local vigilante. Two of the suspects denied any knowledge of the act but one of them confessed that he buys the armored cables from one the suspect. While the other said he was engaged in the crime until he got a new job and left the business of vandalisation. The other two claimed to have recovered the cables after the theft was carried out by other Vandals. They claimed to be engaged in the vigilante business by the younger brother to ex agitator SUNNY NDIGBARA who had since denied knowing or engaging the suspects as vigilante.
Representative of the company handling the road project ENGR Emmanuel Ibak described the arrest of the suspect as a major breakthrough, he said activities of the vandals and insecurities in the area have hampered on their abilities to complete the project to the people of ogonis. He said it got so bad they had to engage the younger brother of the ogoni ex agitator who is the head of security in that area to help them out, till this discovery was made today.
Meanwhile the police public relation officer Nnamdi Omoni said the streetlights vandal suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigation are concluded
Omoni in a press statement said ‘’In keeping with the “Charge” by the Commissioner of Police Rivers State, CP Usman.A. Belel to smash all criminal gangs in the State and make the State grossly uninhabitable for criminals.
Operatives of F-SARS, Bori, led by the Commander, while acting on credible information, arrested a four-man gang of vandals that specializes in the vandalization of electrical materials and other critical Government Infrastructure in Bori and its environs.
The suspects who have confessed to have vandalized the electrical materials including armored cables worth about Thirty Million Naira, led the Police Team to Eleme where some of the armored cables were recovered.
The cables were dug from where it was buried in the electrical projects by the State Government, between Saakpewa and Bori.
They are still helping the Police in Investigation and will be charged to court as soon as Investigation is concluded.
RESCUE OF KIDNAP VICTIMS AND DEATH OF A KIDNAPPER
Earlier today 6/5/19 at about 0500Hrs, Operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit led by the Commander, stormed a forest at Rumuodogo in Emohua LGA, where they rescued two kidnapped victims who were abducted at the East/West road on 30/4/19 while returning from Warri to PH.
The two young ladies were rescued unhurt, while one of the Kidnappers, who was keeping watch over them, was caught in the cross fire that ensued between the Police and the hoodlums and he died immediately.
Their camp was destroyed while others fled with gunshot wounds.

One magazine loaded with sixteen rounds of live ammunition
Meanwhile the two ladies were immediately debriefed and released to reunite with their families, as efforts are on to arrest the fleeing members.
