Rivers State Police Command Parades 20 Suspects And Recovered Guns, Machetes and 60 Live Ammunition

The Rivers state police command has paraded 20 suspects in connection with armed robbery, sea piracy and kidnapping.

The commission of police in rivers state CP USMAN BALEL while parading the suspects said operatives of the anti-cultism unit, acting on credible information arrested the pirate along Bonny Waterways, he said the suspects have made useful confessions

He said the suspects are Monkeni nelson, and Godspower Stephen

When interrogated by our correspondent. Monkeni Nelson said he hired a boat to illegally dispose of his late wife’s body who he allegedly beaten to death by mistake and had hired the boat from Godspower Stephen to cover the crime. He however regrets the crime.

In a related development the CP said operatives of the Anti-kidnapping unit led by the commander SP EDWARD SHADARE stormed a forest at Elibrada in Emuoha LGA where they rescued two female victims kidnapped along the east west road and a shootout between the hoodlums and the police

The CP also said that the kidnapper known as Ntuariuwa a.k.a “change the world”, described as a notorious kidnapper on police wanted list, was also “fatally” wounded and killed in a separate shootout with the police, bringing the number of killed alleged kidnappers to six.

Other notorious kidnapper arrested are Darlington Onyeche 20 years old aka ISU and Godwork John 22 years old from Obibi in Etche LGA both allegedly Kidnapped One Reverend Fr. Donatus Ukaolor on the 3/5/19. The suspects confessed to the crime

The CP said men of the GRA police division foiled a robbery operation where a woman who had gone to the bank and on sighting the police took to flight and abandoned their vehicle a black Toyota Camry without registration number. In another stop and search the police flagged down an ash color Volkswagen Jetta driven by one Theophilus Daminabo with others in the car but they refused to stop but was chased by the police and the suspects abandoned the car while the driver was caught, and on searching the car one locally made gun and an axe concealed in a bag were recovered by the police.

According the commissioner, 12 of the suspects were arrested in connection with alleged cult activities, four for alleged kidnapping and another four for alleged robbery.

He said the command foiled two robbery attempts, recovered three AK47 assault rifles and five locally made pistols.

Others included three pump action guns, eight machetes, five magazines, 60 ammunition and 40 cartridges.

Some of the suspects denied the crimes as the four females paraded alleged that they were victims of circumstance having been in a wrong place at the wrong time. while others confessed to being members of various cult groups but have never participated in a cult related crimes. They will all be charged to court.
