At least ten persons have been killed in Kono Bouwe community in Khana local government area of Rivers state after residents who allegedly could not sleep Saturday night into Sunday morning due to the sporadic shooting that characterize the night. eye witnesses who spoke on condition of anonymity told our correspondent that by Sunday afternoon The number had risen to 17 persons, as some persons were abducted and had not been seen as at today.
He said several houses were also burnt and properties worth some millions of Naira destroyed.
The eye witness also said majority of persons killed are innocent women and children who were shot dead for unprovoked reasons.
Meanwhile The rivers state police command has confirmed the death of some persons from kono Bouwe in khana LGA of rivers state.
The police public relation officer Nnamdi Omoni told correspondent in a telephone conversation that the killings are cult related.
He however denied that 17 persons were killed.
He said police has launched an investigation into what lead to the senseless killing of innocent residents in khana LGA and would bring perpetrators to justice
