The International Federation of women lawyers FIDA has accused the DPO of Rumuokoro police station of conniving with people who abused children to evade arrest
The immediate past chairperson of FIDA, Anthonia Osademe stated this after the DPO of Rumuokoro refused to charge a woman who poured hot water on a 13 years old house help to court. One Oluchi Chima of no 13 Oronda street, Rumuaghaolu had reportedly battered her 13 years old house and to crown her evil act poured hot water on the little girl. The incident was reported and brought to the note of FIDA and subsequently the matter was taken to Rumuokoro Police Station by the women lawyers for follow up. Mrs. Osademe said instead of the said woman to be arrested she was not seen and the team drove back to the station only to be told that Mrs. Oluchi chima has been granted bail and the DPO ordered for the arrest and detention of the 13years old girl, who was kept behind bar from morning to night.
The FIDA women insisted that the child cannot be detained by the police having suffered deep burn injuries and trauma needs to be taken to a hospital for proper treatment
She said instead of the DPO to detain the suspects, he allegedly detained the 13 years old girl battling with burns injuries to their amazement.
The immediate past chairperson of FIDA Anthonia Osademe however called on the commissioner of Police to intervene on the issue so that the 13 years old Girl could commence medical treatment to avoid infection of burn wounds
She said this is the third matter that has been brought to Rumuokoro police station and said DPO is always covering up for the suspects. She said I guess Rumuokoro Police is trying to compromise again, we are appealing to the commissioner of police to call the DPO of Rumuokoro to order
