A family of seven which includes husband and wife with their 5 children have been found dead in Elele Town in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Our correspondent gathered that the tragic incident happened in their apartment within an Estate known as Too Much Money Elele Town.
One of the neighbors of the victims who confirmed the incident to our correspondent said they woke up early hours Thursday and noticed that the neighbor’s house was still under locked and key.
Our source who does not want his name mention or his voice heard said they decided to force open the main door to the one-bedroom apartment after they observed that car belonging to their father who was a known commercial driver was still not out for his usual business and none of their children seen outside.
The Neighbors said they saw the man last when he was trying to put on their generator set which they suspected may be the cause of their death following the position of the generator set which he said was face directly to their door.
When contacted the spokesman for Rivers State Police Command, NNAMDI OMONI said preliminary investigation shows that the family died as a result of carbon monoxide from fumes of generator set but insisted that investigation was still on to unravel if it was caused by sabotage.
OMONI who is Deputy Superintendent of Police in an interview with our correspondent disclosed that the corpses have been deposited at the mortuary for further investigation, warning that at the end of the investigation, anyone found culpable will be made to face the law.
