The rivers state police command says the Planned Protest by a Group, self- styled, ‘Association of Persons with disabilities’ will not hold.
A statement issued by the spokesman of the Rivers State Police Command DSP Nnamdi Omoni says The attention of the Command has been drawn to a planned protest by a group under the aegis of ‘Association of Persons with disabilities’ scheduled to hold tomorrow morning at the premises of a Multinational Company in Port Harcourt and warns as follows:
- Intelligence at our disposal reveals that the Protest is ill-conceived, selfish and capable of breaching public peace.
- In the light of the above, the Command wishes to sound it loud and clear, that it will not sit back and see any group breach the already existing peace in the State.
- Hence we call on the people concerned to have a re-think and shelve their planned action, as we shall deal decisively with any attempt to undermine the security of the State.
- Dialogue remains the most viable option in resolving any impasse, while protest is the last resort.
The statement concluded as saying ‘’The Public is hereby enjoined to disregard the planned protest and go about their lawful duties without fear of molestation’’. As a Command, we remain irrevocably committed to protecting lives and property in the State.
