The Rivers state police command says it recovered 3 military assault Rifles from a criminal hideout in Akinima, Ahoada West Local Government Area of the state.
The police public relation officer Nnamdi Omoni said the DPO of Akinima, SP BAKO ANGBASHIM led his team to the Forest of Odudugwa at night where the criminal was plotting to embark on criminal activities but were later chased further into the forest and some into a nearby River.
He said the criminal took to flight upon sighting the police who also raided the camp and recovered three military riffles.
Omoni revealed that the Riffles were the same ones taken from military men who were ambushed and killed in May 2019 by this suspected Kidnappers, when the Military Men from Operation Delta Flush from Bayelsa State went to the area to flush out criminals who were Hibernating at that camp.
He said the commissioner of police in Rivers state Mustapha Dandaura called on residents in the state to assist the police with credible information that will assist in dislodging criminal elements from the state.
‘’we urge the public to partner with us, the commissioner of police has ordered that there should be constant Raids of all black spots and criminal hideouts in the state and in keeping with that directive by the commissioner men of the command through credible information acted on it and timely intercepted these criminals before they could launch their attacks’’
He explained that the riffles are heavy military weapon that is capable of sacking a whole community.
