A cult clash in Anambra State has claimed five.
The cult clash which occurred at Idemili-North and Oyi axis of the state at Late hours’ yesterday.
The Police Public Relations Officer in Anambra state, Haruna Mohammed confirmed the incident in a statement. ‘’He said the police were on the trail of those involved in the fracas.
The statement read in said, “It was a cult clash. They equally shot two others at Ogidi. Police patrol teams rushed to the scene and took the victims to Iyenu hospital for medical attention but they were certified dead on arrival.
“The Police are intensifying efforts to apprehend perpetrators in order to bring them to justice”. The reason for the rivalry cult fracas could not be ascertained but eye witnesses said, “Five persons were killed during the clash”
Meanwhile, the command has also banned the use of vehicles with masked plate numbers in the state by unauthorized persons.
The PPRO who also stated this in a statement said such vehicles were used to commit various crimes in the state. “Information at the disposal of the Anambra State Police Command revealed that unauthorized persons in the state are using unmarked vehicles or vehicles with covered plate numbers to perpetrate crimes in the state in order to avoid being detected by the law enforcement agencies.
“Such acts are not only unlawful but also constitute serious security threats to the public which if left unchecked could jeopardize the efforts of the police towards promoting safety and security in the state which the law enforcement agencies are working assiduously to sustain.
“In view of the foregoing, the Commissioner of Police, John Abang, has ordered with immediate effect the arrest and prosecution of persons using unmarked and masked vehicle plate numbers without authorization.”
