Community people of Rumuji in Ndele Emuoha local Government area in Rivers state said the report by police that the 5 Suspected Kidnappers apprehended terrorizing Rumuji Ndele axis of the East West road who also that attacked and hijacked a commercial bus belonging to a private transportation Company were arrested by the police is false.
A driver of a bus next to the attacked vehicle who confirmed the attack to our correspondent said the occupants of the bus are suspected to be members of Redeem Christian Church of God who are travelling to Lagos for a retreat.
One of Our sources from the community said the true account of what happened that Monday morning was a failed hijack. He said the Rundele-Odogu security peace committee members sighted a vehicle suspected to be of the kidnapped victims were damaged and abandoned along the road while the occupants taken into the nearby forest about 7:30am that day.
He said Few hours later the hoodlums regrouped and attacked another target between Rumuji-Evekwu axis of the East West road prompting members of Rundele-Odogu Security Peace and Adversary Committee who were in search of the kidnapped victims, stormed the area to confront the hoodlums and succeeded in killing three. He said they invited the police who accompanied them in search of the camps where the hoodlums operate from and arrested 5 persons who were hibernating in the forest
A senior police officer at the Rumuji division who also collaborated the story but wished not to be named confirmed the attack said that such incident was reported.
Recall that the Rivers state police command on a Monday night in a press conference by the police public relation officer DSP NNAMDI OMONI said the three persons killed were gunned down by the police. An operation he claimed that was carried out by men of the newly inaugurated operation Sting.
He said the gallant policemen chased the criminals into the forest where 5 persons were arrested.
