A youth group. The Rivers Ethnic Youth Leaders Council says the proscription of youth activities in the state by the state governor will create a vacuum and amounts to idleness for the youths:
The president general of Rivers Ethnic youth leader’s council Bright Abali in his reaction to the proscription announcement made by the state governor Nyesom Wike said there is good & bad sides of the proscription of all community youth’s activities in Rivers State,
Bright Abali in his statement issued to newsmen on behalf of the rivers ethnic leader’s council said ‘’it’s good that the Governor has directed his attention to youth’s activities in the state for the first time but regrets that his action will disengage the youths from their legitimate source of revenue & increase informal youth activities in the state.
the statement also said ‘’Proscribing Youths activities by past government in the state was the bane of proliferation of informal groups & criminality.
Abali said, Rivers Youth Leaders Council already have gazette & profiled all youth groups in the state. The proscription will amount to infringement of their right of Association but promised that the youths will abide by the governor pronouncement
Abali however called on all Youth leaders to obey the order & suspend all Youth activities in all parts of the state.
