Over 4000 people including women and children have benefited from a two days’ medical sensitization organized by the Rivers state police medical team for residents in Okirika and Ahoada east local government area in Rivers state.
The coordinator of the free medical outreach, Commissioner of police medical south south Zone, CP Efunsola Sowemimo said the aim of the medical outreach was to create a close relationship between the people and the Nigeria police. She said the phrase ‘’police are your friend’’ is not just a phrase but a reality.
CP Efunsola revealed that the command will establish medical centres in all its area command to cater for the people and men of the Forces within such area commands, she called on the people to embrace the police in their communities for effective policing and approach their health needs at such centers when they eventually come on board.
Some of the beneficiaries of the free medical outreach in okirika local government told our correspondent that they were shocked to see the Nigeria police force engaging in humanity service.
The chief of Iworifamama House Okochiri Kingdom Okirika Chief Engr. E.A Iruayenama who spoke on behalf of the chiefs and Elders in the community said ‘’though the information about the sensitization came very late, the people are happy with what they see on ground. He said look behind me you can see the mammoth crowd, I am also a beneficiary the glasses on my face is from this free medical outreach. We are very happy with the Nigeria police.
‘’they should keep it up and next time they should extend it to three days.
While also in Ahoada East, on Tuesday for the continuation of the two days’ free medical outreach, the residents and some of the beneficiaries urged the Nigeria police to make the free medical a continuous one, they pledge to work with the police to create a peaceful atmosphere for investors to come into Ahoada. They said in the past when people come to Ahoada for free Medical Outreach They end of paying at least #500 to #1000 naira either to buy drugs or pay for card.
They urged the Nigeria police to continue with such positive ventures as it will endear them to the people.
Our Correspondent reports that the free medical outreach was in partnership with the CHIKE OKOLI Foundation and Emzor Pharmaceuticals experts from the medical giants in Nigeria who undertook, eye testing, dental care, Laboratory testing, screening and general drugs dispensing.
