Police says it has launched a man hunt for the killers of a local vigilante man killed in the early hours of yesterday.
The Rivers state police public relation officer NNAMDI OMONI told our correspondent that the vigilante man identified as Emmanuel Ikechukwu but popularly called Eyindah IYKE was shot in a Choba community Obio/Akpor LGA by suspected cultist.
He said the police will do everything humanly possible to bring the killers of Eyindah Iyke’s to justice.
Our correspondent gathered that Eyindah Iyke was The leader of Vigilant group in Choba Community in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
A family source who confirmed the killing to our correspondent said his uncle was allegedly shot dead by some suspected cult gang members who were on their way to carry out a different mission but was accosted by the gallant vigilante man.
He said the late ENYINDA IYKE was found dead in the early hours of today within a street linking Igbogo road after a gun battle that lasted for hours at midnight
Ikechukwu Emmanuel was a father of 4 kids until he met his until death.
Rivers State Police Command is yet to confirm the killing but a senior police officer at Choba division told our correspondent that the incident have been reported to them and investigation have commenced to track down the perpetrators.
Recall that on the 14 of July 2019 gunmen had attacked the Choba community killing the community Development chairman CDC and the Chief Priest of Choba ORIJI Azuh.
