The Police in rivers state says it arrested a suspected armed robbery kingpin terrorizing students Lodge in Bori in Khana local Government area of the state. Confirming the arrest of the robber the police public relation officer Nnamdi Omoni told our correspondent that the arrest was sequel to operation sting recently launched by the governor to tackle security challenges in the state. He said the suspect is helping police to trace other members of his gang.
This arrests comes 72 hours after a joint security meeting between Police, School Management and The students of KenPolythenics on Thursday at the school convocation arena.
The President of Student Union Government, Comrade Ojenike Nathaniel confirmed also confirmed the arrest to prince wiro of the revelation agent’s news.
He said the outcry by the SUG for security of our students in Bori, has received the attention of the school management and the state Anti-cultism.
‘’The Rector of KenPolythecnic Engr. Dr. Oneniye-ofori Georgewill JP and the Rivers State Anti-cultism led by its commander Mr. Lawson D. held an emergency meeting with the entire student’s community at the convocation arena to discuss way forward.
The Rector in his address sympathized with the students’ community and assured of management commitment to ensure that students are secured both on campus and off campus.
The Anti-cultism commander assured students of readiness of the command to partner with the school management and student’s union government to ensure adequate security of Bori and its environs.
The SUG president however call on the commander to deploy more men to complement the efforts of the officers on ground. He assured the students of the Union’s resolved to defend the students interest at all times. He also calls for an end to harassment of students at the school gate by the Anti-cultism squad.
He condemned the conspicuous absent of the LGA chairman at the meeting. The Bori police division was not spared as he maintained that they have remained dormant and of no help to the students’ community also noted that the students expect improvement in the coming days and thanked everyone had expressed concerns and stood in solidarity with the student at their trying moment especially the chairman of Civil Rights Council Rivers State Prince Wiro who took it upon himself to ensure the SOS message of the Union receives the desired attention.
