Some concerned residents of Rumuji community in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State have staged a protest to Rumuji Police Division to demand for the corpse of one CHIDIMAKA WANUSIKE who was reportedly shot by police personnel.
One of the indigenes of Rumuji who spoke to our correspondent on telephone at the scene of the protest alleged that his brother was shot by the police who took him to hospital where he finally died.
Our source who identified himself as GODSPOWER AGALA said they were informed at the hospital that the police came and took the victim away when the health condition of the victim became worst.
AGALA said they are at the police station to demand for the corpse of CHIDIMAKA WANUSIKE who he described as innocent person and to know the reason for his killing.
When our correspondent contacted the Divisional Police officer in charge of Rumuji station who also confirmed the incident said he has addressed the situation and the people have seen reasons for peace just as he disclosed that the officer simply identified as Sergeant LOUIS who carried out the action has been placed under detention.
He further disclosed an ongoing meeting with the community chiefs and elders to restore lasting peace.
Meanwhile the state spokesman Nnamdi OMONI is yet to confirm the incident as his Telephone numbers were switched off throughout yesterday.
