The National and State Assembly Election Petition Tribunal has ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC to declare TEKENA WELLINGTON as the winner of the Asari-Toru Constituency one seat at the Rivers State House of Assembly.
The tribunal while declaring the judgment declared that TEKENA WELLINGTON won the election after having polled the highest number of votes during the election.
The Presiding Judge, Justice J.O. BAMGBOSE also said that results tendered by the incumbent House of Assembly Member representing Asari-Toru Constituency one Dr IPALIBO GEORGE was not the true certified copy.
The lawyer to PDP and TEKENA WELLINGTON at the tribunal, DIKE UDENNA said they are happy with the outcome of the Tribunal judgment as the election result sighted by the judges during the tribunal proceeding shows that INEC results sheets was not dully signed by the returning officer and the INEC.
ININASIYA WEST, the lawyer to Dr IPALIBO GEORGE said he will consult with his client to know his next line of action and possible proceed to appeal.
Correspondent UGOCHUKWU IWUCHUKWU reports that the tribunal also awarded the cost of 500 thousand naira in favour of TEKENA WELLINGTON as damages.
