Residents of Asa Dam area of Kwara State where thrown into a panic mode yesterday after it was confirmed that the gunshots by suspected armed robbers late on Saturday night at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation mega station in the Asa Dam area of Ilorin, the Kwara State capital left 2 guards dead.
The robbers were said to have during their operation beheaded a police sergeant and a security man at the station.
A resident of the area said, “During the bloody incident, the armed robbers beheaded a sergeant and a security guard attached to the fuel station.” that the armed robbers struck when the workers of the station had left for their respective homes at the close of sales on Saturday night.
Some motorist who were lurking around the fuel mega station expressed fear that he NNPC mega station which was under lock and key throughout Sunday might cause another round of fuel scarcity within the city and called for government intervention on the case.
The Police Public Relations Officer in Kwara Police Command, Ajayi Okasanmi, confirmed the incident, he said the “information is true. We have commenced investigation into the matter.”
