The Rivers state police command has killed a notorious criminal terrorizing the Port Harcourt/ Owerri road.
The police public relation officer DSP Nnamdi Omoni told our correspondent that the renowned cultist kidnap kingpin terrorizing the Ikwerre local government area was killed last night after the criminal engaged police in a gun battle.
He said the kingpin known as Promise Nduka Nwome AKA ANAGBAISIEGBE of Omarelu in Ikwerre local Government Area in Rivers state when the cultist and his gang attempted to hijacked a commercial bus returning from Owerri into port Harcourt
Omoni said the criminals on sighting the police engaged them in a gun battle which left one of the kidnapper fatally wounded and other members of the gang fled with gunshot wounds
He appeals to members of the public to furnish the police with information on anybody treating gun wounds outside the hospitals.
He said items recovered from the criminals include (1) AK47 RIFFLES Several arms and ammunition.
Report from Okehi Kingdom in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State revealed that four people have been reportedly killed in a fresh cult clash in four villages in the kingdom within that local government area.
Our correspondent gathered that the four persons killed include one in Okoroche Igbodo, one in Umuine Igbodo, two in Okehi one & two while buildings and other properties were also damaged by the rampaging cultists who set some houses on fire.
The Coordinator General of the Forum of Community Development Committee in Rivers State, JOHN ONWUBUARILI who confirmed the incident to our correspondent called on Etche youths who are still engaged in criminality and violent acts to have a rethink and embrace peace and forgive one another.
ONWUBUARILI who is an indigene of Etche, urge security agencies to mobilize their men to Okehi Kingdom, saying that if preventive mature is not been taken, it could be dangerous for the people.
He said youth should understand that no meaningful development can occur in war zones.
The police public relation officer Nnamdi Omoni also confirmed that no one was killed in the cult clash that broke out in a Etche LGA. Last night he said anyone with proof of any corpse should come forward with report for further investigation.
He confirmed that tactical teams have been deployed to the area to forestall further breakdown of law and order
