The Nigerian Navy says it has rescued four officers of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), who were abducted on the Bonny River on Tuesday morning by suspected sea pirates.
The Commanding Officer of the Nigerian Navy (NN) Forward Operating Base (FOB), Bonny, Navy Capt. Kola Oguntuga, confirmed the rescue to newsmen yesterday afternoon today in port Harcourt.
He said the four immigration officers were rescued during a surprise operation by the Maritime component of the Joint Task-force (JTF), Operation Delta Safe, comprising the Forward Operating Base (FOB), Bonny and Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS), Pathfinder, Port Harcourt.
Recall that the immigration officers serving in bonny island were abducted early hours on Tuesday on the water way while traveling from bonny to port Harcourt on official assignment. The public relations officer of Nigeria immigration port Harcourt is yet to issue press release on the matter
