The Rivers State branch of the International Federation of Women Lawyers FIDA Joins her counterparts across the globe begins activities marking the annual 16 days Activism to end Violence and all forms of abuse against Women and children, especially the Girl Child.
This year’s theme, Orange this World: Generation equality, stands against rape” FIDA is calling on Parents, potential Parents, the Government Parastatals, worthy bodies and spirited individuals to pledge to uphold and apply equal opportunities devoid of bias and discrimination irrespective of gender and disabilities where merit and intellect is revealed.
The public relation officer of FIDA Stephanie Ekpebulu in a statement said the time has come for the World to realize, appreciate and celebrate the aesthetic and complementing role and purpose of the Female gender.
She said FIDA is therefore demanding for:
Acceptance Not Rejection
Support Not Opposition
Encouragement Not Discouragement
Respect Not Rape
Veneration Not Violation.
To this end, FIDA condemns in its entirety the recent serial killings and incessant cases of rape and defilement in our society with a call to nurture the Girl child to become the Great Intelligent Resourceful Life givers that they are.
