How Bush Fire At The Port Harcourt International Airport Runway Disrupted Flights Operations Saturday Evening

Fire suspected to be ignited by seasonal Harmattan burring along the runway of the Port Harcourt International Airport, disrupted flight activities on Saturday evening.

A source at the Airport said the fire prevented a Max Air flight from taking off while an Arik flight had to return to base sighting safety concerns While a Dana flight from Abuja to Port Harcourt was also diverted to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, as it could not land due to the fire outbreak on the runway.

Management of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria could not be reached on phone as at press time but a passengers said it was a bush fire which the fire services are battling to put out.

She said the airport was closed for the smoke to dissipate and would be opened after a short period but confirmed that the passengers are not scared as everything is being managed properly
