Unknown gunmen on Saturday 10th January at about 9PM in the evening attacked and shot to death a SARs official around the Rukpokwu area in Obio/Akpor local government Rivers state.
The police public relations officer Nnamdi Omoni in responses to a text message sent to him confirmed the killing said the SARs official was returning from work when the incident occurred.
He said we lost a SARs personnel yesterday in a surprise attack but our men have recovered the attacker’s operational vehicles and are on their trail.
He explained that the SARs official came down from their vehicle to clear traffic gridlock when the gunmen opened fire on the SARs official, abandoned their vehicles and ran away.
The SARS official identified as Ejit Josiah we gathered was returning from an official engagement where their convey met traffic gridlock and he alighted to clear the gridlock when the hoodlums who felt threatened by his presence opened fire on him without any form of provocation
