Business Activities Grounded To A Halt At IKOKWU – MILE3 Area In Port Harcourt As Traders Protest Continued Detention Of 4 Others By Police Even After The Death Of Chima Ikwunado

Business Activities was grounded to a halt as Traders at the Ikokwu Market Area protest the killing of their colleague a known Mechanic and four others still held in detention by the E-Crack unit of mile one police,

Our correspondent who monitored the protests said the same protest was also extended to the all shops operating along the mile one to mile three axis of Ikwerre road with the mile one police dispersing the protesters. With tear gas and several Mass arrest happening simultaneously at St. Thomas and Ikokwu axis

The Traders at Ikokwu market, a popular Spare Parts Dealers Market in Port Harcourt said they are protesting the death of Chima Ikwunado who allegedly was tortured to death by E-crack unit of Mile one police division.

Our correspondent who monitored the protest said the protesters were bathed with Teargas with the police shooting sporadically into the air. He said ‘’Gunshots flew around everywhere but the protesters were more determined to go on with the protest even with the ongoing mass arrest.

He said the situation was later brought under control by Men of The SARS operatives who took charge of the area with armored truck stationed at Ikokwu junction.

Vehicular movements around these axis was also stifling as commuter’s scamper to avoid the force men who were puncturing tires of vehicle parked around the area for no known reason

Pedestrians taking and passing through the area were Forced to walk long distance with both hands raised up

Our correspondent said ‘’There was heavy gun shooting as the Police was shooting to disperse the protesters. Men of Anti-Cultism, FSARS, Counter Terrorism, Mile 1 Police, Operation Sting where all stationed. As at 1:25PM people where still made to raise their hands while walking through Ikokwu axis. Store owners have also deserted the place with Intense traffic also within D/line as a result of this incident’’
