Ohaneze Ndigbo Issues A 7 Days Ultimatum To Police To Release 29 Ikokwu Traders Arrested On 20TH January For Protesting & The 4 Mechanic In Prison Custody


The Apex Igbo Socio- cultural Organisation the OHANEZE NDIGBO WORLDWIDE Rivers State Branch has issued a 7days ultimatum to the Rivers State Police to release the 29 Ikokwu Traders including the other 4 held with late Chima in prison custody on trump up charges

The Publicity Secretary of Ohaneze Ndigbo Mazi Felix Chikwendu Onuma issued the ultimatum while addressing Ohaneze Ndigbo in Ikokwu Market’s.

He said the ultimatum became necessary due to over 50 people arrested by police from their shops over alleged protest for the killing of Chima Ikwunado last week Monday. He explained that after the protest the police went from shop to shop and was picking innocent people and that a lot of them where bailing themselves with twenty-five thousand Naira and that the twenty-nine others who were unable to bail themselves where hurriedly charged to court on false allegation.

The Publicity Secretary of Ohaneze Ndigbo in Rivers state Felix Chikwendu Onuma also revealed that contrary to police reports that the Ikokwu four were not tortured that they visited the prison for a first hand fact finding mission but wept at the sight of the poor health status of the four mechanic sent to prison custody which he alleges were deteriorating as the days go by.
