Port Harcourt Lawyer Escapes Committal To Prison Custody For Obstruction Of Justice As NBA Begs Judge

A Lawyer, Charles Alimini has escaped being committed to prison by Justice George Omereji of the High Court in Port Harcourt.

Justice Omereji had issued a bench warrant on Alimini who the court accused of allegedly obstructing the course of Justice in a matter that has been lingering since 2010.

The furious Justice Omereji had threatened to issue an order for the Lawyer to be remanded in the Nigerian Correctional facility but for the intervention of some Senior Lawyers including former NBA Chairman, Augustine Ojekudo who pleaded the mercy of the Court.

State Counsel, Deinma Tamunokubo told newsmen that efforts were made to serve notices on the docked Lawyer, Charles Alimini which were evaded.

Our correspondent reports that the court adjourned the matter till 18th and 19th of March with a directive for the Lawyer, Charles Alimini to produce the defendant in Court and show due diligence for the completion of the ten-year litigation.
