Police Parades 24 Babies, 4 Pregnant Teenagers, 4 Nursing Teenage Mothers Allegedly Rescued From Baby Factory In Port Harcourt


The Rivers state police command has paraded 34 persons in connection to a baby factory located at the woji axis in Port Harcourt.

The police public relations officer Nnamdi Omoni while parading the suspects said men of the Crack unit following a covert operation busted a child trafficking syndicate where 24 babies between the ages one and 2 years old.

He said pregnant teenagers were also recued in the process. Some of the pregnant teenagers are said to be in police clinic receiving treatments

On her part, lawyers to the owners of the allege baby factory business Tender life care center, Eunice Uchendu said police acted unprofessionally by arresting her client without due diligence.  She expressed displeasure that her client would be labeled a criminal when she has a dully registered NGO helping ladies who are burden with unwanted pregnancy to get succour and rehabilitation to continue with their education and not into her operations of any baby factory.

She said the orphanage is registered as an NGO and with ministry of social Welfare and corporate Affairs Commission and has been in operations since 2018.

Meanwhile some of the teenagers paraded denied being used for baby factory.

Queen from Beira in Ogoni Says her boyfriend impregnated her and due to shame of carrying pregnancy in the community someone referred her to Tender Life Care in woji. She said since I gave birth in December I have been well taken care of by the Orphanage.

Helen 16 years old from Eleme said her parents brought her to tender life center to take of her since her boyfriend denied her pregnancy. She said her parents visits her and she has no need to worry as she is comfortable staying with tender Life care center.

Another Teenager who is rather angry at actions of the police said Nigeria police is so quick to condemn good people and will collect money and reward bad people, Rose who says she hails from Abua odual said she was raped by a big man in her community and the matter was reported to police but the man used money to bribe the police and due to shame she has to leave the community through the help of some family and church members to Tender life care center to give birth and now police is harassing her again, when they could not bring her alleged rapist to justice.

Some of the men paraded alongside the women also denied allegation by police that they impregnated any of the girls they said they work at the ground floor while the orphanage operates upstirs and has no business with the orphanage but that police busted into the compound in a commando style and whisked every soul in the premises away both clients and passersby.
