As the Pharmaceutical Council of Nigeria PCN continues its clampdown on unregistered pharmacies and chemists operating in Port Harcourt, so many Medicine store owners now operates at night to evade arrest.
Investigation revealed that over 20 medicine store have been sealed by PCN between Monday and Thursday. The medicine shops sealed by PCN are chemists selling drugs they are not supposed to sell as non-pharmacists and pharmacy store that is yet to register with the council. The sealed shops have emblem of PCN and Notice indicating that the place has been sealed.
The notice also states that, it is an offence to open the sealed chemists and pharmacy without approval of PCN. Some pharmacy that are registered were sealed by PCN for selling controlled drugs to customers without Doctor’s prescription.
