A Police Officer simply identified as Inspector Amadi attached to Estate Police Station, Woji Obi/Akpor Local Government area of Rivers State was accused of using a Patrol Van to knock down a keke driver known as Chibuike. which resulted in dislocation of his knee bone On Sunday April 5,2020.
The Keke driver who gave his name as Kingsley Augustine told our correspondent that the Police Inspector had demanded 2,000 naira from Chibuike whom he accused Parking wrongly at YKC bus stop at Woji but Chibuike refused to yield to his demands on the ground that he did not Park wrongly.
Mr Augustine disclosed that Chibuike drove away from the Inspector and his team when it became clear they wanted to arrest him for no known offence.
According to Augustine, Inspector Amadi chased Chibuike with the Police patrol van and knocked him down at Mini Woji area which resulted to accident that made him suffer dislocation. Mr Augustine said Keke drivers who witnessed the incident grabbed the Inspector before his colleagues came to his rescue. The Keke drivers have decried continuous extortion by the said officer.
When interviewed by Revelation agent ‘’The Keke drivers said Inspector Amadi will take you to station and ensure you pay 10,000 naira if you refuse to give him 2,000 naira on the road. The Civil Rights Council says it has lodged an official complaints at the woji estate police station for the officer to be cautioned, noting that failure to do the needful in the coming days if He continues the CRC will escalate the matter, noting that the injured driver have not been seen since that incident because he has not come to work after that day and no way to reach him on phone for now after he returned home from the hospital.
