A 28-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping a 36-year-old woman with an improved(fake) gun in Anambra State Nigeria.
The incident took place on Friday, at Okpuno. The suspect, Emeka Okeke was said to have returned from Awka correctional centre recently, for alleged manslaughter.
The State Police Public Relations officer, Mohammed Haruna, said ‘’On the 7th of May 2020, a 36-year-old woman, residing at UNIZIK temporary -site Awka, reported at B Division, Awka, that at about 9:pm of the 6th of May, 2020, while departing with her friend from at Okochi Okpuno, a man, later identified as Emeka Okeke, aged 28 years AKA ’Aso Rock’, followed her closely and raised his shirt up to show her a gun, tucked in his waist. According to her, Emeka threatened to shoot her if she did not comply with his sexual demands for carnal knowledge
Consequently, the frightened victim, believing it was a real gun, and under the fear of being killed, followed him to a nearby uncompleted building where he forcefully took advantage of her. Again, while being led out of the scene, the suspect forcefully led her to another location, which was the premises of a community secondary school, Okponu, where he had another round of carnal knowledge with the victim.
Following the report, the suspect was trailed and arrested by police detectives in conjunction with the vigilante group attached to the Opuno community. A search was conducted on the suspect immediately, and the handle of a hand saw, a semblance of a shut gun which he concealed underneath his shirt, was recovered as an exhibit.
Meanwhile, the victim was taken to the hospital for medical examination. The suspect on the other hand is also a notorious offender, who was recently released from the correctional center, Awka over an alleged case of manslaughter
