Civil Rights Council, Rivers State has urged the Traditional institution in Oroworukwo community(D-Line) PortHarourt to hand over two men in their mid-30s who allegedly defiled a 14-year-old boy to the Police for proper investigation of the matter.
Chairman of Civil Rights Council in Rivers State, Prince Wiro told our correspondent that the organization is worried that the community want to handle the case by themselves without involving the Police.
Prince Wiro disclosed that in as much as the Council commend the Youth of the community for apprehending the suspects, the matter should be reported to the Police for investigation and if the suspects are found culpable they should be made to face the law.
Meanwhile a resident of the community who pleaded anonymity explained that the community Covid-19 team allegedly apprehended one of the suspects Tuesday night while having carnal knowledge of the boy at a dark corner in the community. The community Covid-19 team led by the Youth President of the community handed over the suspect to the Paramount Ruler of the community Eze Ogbondah Martin who invited all the parties in the matter Wednesday morning.
The source revealed that the main suspect named another suspect involved in the crime.
The resident disclosed that the community gave the suspects some conditions to meet up with for allegedly polluting the land spiritually without handing them over to the Police.
Our correspondent learned that the suspects lured the 14-year-old boy with biscuits and mineral.
