The Rivers state police command says it is working with the curfew time issued by the Federal government.
The state police public relations officer Nnamdi Omoni told correspondent Anita Ogona that the it’s a known fact that when a state laws conflict with federal laws the federal laws takes over. He said it is commonsense that our officers should know what time to enforce the curfew’’ remember that both Federal and State government are working to protect live and properties of residents and citizens especially at this covid19 seasons so when federal government issues a directives and the state issues same different timing, the federal supersedes that of the state.
The police public relations officer Nnamdi Omoni also said the police in the command are bound to enforce the 10 PM To 4Pm curfew.
He urged residents who feels they rights been breach to call and report the officers to police official number for complaints, he urged the residents to stop offering bribes to the police when arrested as they too can be charged for same offence as the police, he said most times it is the people that offer money to the police and not necessarily the police asking for money from the people.
The PPRO DSP Nnamdi Omoni also hinted that the command is dealing with issues of police extortion from the public and warned that some officers have been arrested and facing charges or in some cases are dismissed and charged to court
