The Rivers State Police command has arrested suspected kidnappers who allegedly killed their victim after collecting ransom from relatives of the victim. Addressing newsmen at the scene of the crime in a thick forest in Alesa, Eleme local Government Area of Rivers State, Nigeria ,the Police Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Nnamdi Omoni disclosed that the family members of the business man,Gospel Dunabari 38 years of age,a native of Bera in Gokana LGA reported to the Anti-kidnapping unit on May 15,2020 that the man was missing.
He stated that the commander of the unit led by Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Shadar Edward swung into action and acting on credible intelligence arrested a member of the gang who led the Police to arrest a second suspect. The Police spokesperson said the suspect led the Police to where the victim was tied to a tree and left to die after the gang collected ransom.
He added that efforts are on to arrest other members of the gang.
In an interview with newsmen,one of the suspects Osundu Uchendu who is 20 year old who hail from Rumuodogo in Emohua Local Government area confessed to the crime. Mr. Uchendu added that He brought his gang members to the bush where the suspect was tied before his death. The suspect confessed that his group is responsible for series of kidnappings in Eleme and Woji community axis of Rivers state
