The Rivers state police command says it has deployed men and officers to all the flash points areas to forestall any break down of law and order throughout the period of the sallah celebration.
The police PRO Nnamdi Omoni said told correspondent Anita Ogona that the operations department of the command have deployed adequately for the Salah celebration which includes providing security in all the mosque and other worship centers.
He said the need to deploy the security men is to ensure that hoodlums do not take advantage of the sallah celebration to cause trouble and minor crimes.
He said you will agree with me that all the offices are closed down due to the long weekend holiday and some Businesses will be shot down, so we increased policing of the areas to ensure that nothing untoward happens and that hoodlums does not cash in on the silence of some places to perpetrate crimes.
he said the command also deployed 4 ballistic gun boat to comb the waters ways, like the KIE, BILLE, BONNy, ANDONI Waterways to safeguard water travellers, saying for the past week we have have been able to deploy men to those flash points areas that is why you have not heard of any thing untoward in those identified flashpoints areas known for sea piracy, and attacks
The police public relations officer Nnamdi Omoni also warned that the command will enforce all laws and measures regarding the covid19 protocols. He said the Moslem faithfuls should go about their sallah celebrations but in compliance to the COVID19 Protocols, he said that worship centers must not exceed the approved number of persons in worship areas, with nose mask on as approved by NCDC and that the rules of hand washing with soap must be adhered to at worship centers.
