A Port Harcourt High court presided over by Justice Augusta Chukwu has adjourned till 14th of October 2020 to decide in a case instituted by Price Amatari Bipelrdei VS Hon Victor Ihunwo on assault and allege damages to properties.
But when the matter came up in court on Monday the 3RD Of June 2020 the Judge who had to excuse herself to attend other important state matter in her wisdom adjourned the matter to October to decide on other ways of serving the Mayor the court processes. the court was sitting all these while, without any representation of any lawyer from Hon Victor Ihunwo ,the court had sat for three time but his lawyers hasn’t come for one day.
Counsel to the Diobu Vigilante spokesman Christian OJEBAGU said the matter was delayed due to the covid19 pandemic and hopes everything Normalizes soon. he said the judge would have issued a substantiated service of summons to the the mayor despite being dully served so that the matter can proceed.
the Diobu Vigilante Spokesman told newsmen that is in court over the incicenceis of last year meted to him by the Chairman of port harcourt city, Victor Ihunwu. He said ”Recall that the Mayor of Port Harcourt on the 5th of July 2019 invaded my personal property at Anieke Lane by Abel Jumbo mile 2 diobu under construction & destroyed it from A to Z, the Mayor on the 8th July 2019 invaded Government Library at Ihediohanma by Ojoto under construction which was handed over to me in dual purpose of providing security & supervision by paying workers from foundation to date, all as directed by the Contractors & the Mayor asked me to hand over all keys to a suspected criminal which I refuse after getting clearance from the contractors who handed it over to me & the Mayor on the 13th of July invaded the Library through the fence with suspected criminals & thugs, broke padlocks to allow their fellow thugs in who started vandalizing it & even went far as stealing, money kept in some of the rooms were stolen. I made entry with the police and some of this suspects were arrested”.
He continued ”The Mayor on the 31th of July sent the Councillor of Ward 17 to lock up the Library with other pad lock & I quickly call the police for his arrest & the Councillor resisted the police & he called the Mayor who came by him self & slapped me & tore my cloth in the presence of his police orderly and no know law gave him that right & I sued him & the local government to pay me 89 million naira while the criminal case is still on going at the SCID
