Lands in Anambra goes digital, as government introduces GIS
From record, Anambra state is the 1st state in Southeast that has introduced Geographic Information System (GIS)
Anambra State Commissioner for Lands, Mr Bonaventure Enemali has announced that Gov. Willie Obiano will soon unveil a digitized operation’s platform in the state’s lands’ Ministry.
Mr Enemali explained to the Information Officer attached to his Ministry that the move would aim at improving the Internally Generated Revenue through the operation.
“I want to also achieve an elimination of double taxation in the process.’’
According to Mr Enemali, with Geographic Information and Electronic Data Management System, it will be easy to assess information about Lands in Anambra State from anywhere, with ease by using a local ground control system.
The commissioner noted that the building for the project was ready for inauguration.
He urged members of the public, who need land to come to the ministry to ascertain the authenticity of the lands, before purchase, reminding them that his ministry had commenced issuance of Electronic Certificate of Occupancy.
The digital documentation of land will put to an end double allocation, illegal taxation, but provide relevant information on lands in the state.
