Unpaid Workers Of Ahoada West LGA Takes Protest To State Assembly Demands Payment Of 13Months Salary Arrears


Some people under the umbrella of unpaid workers of Ahoada West local Government Area of Rivers State Today took their protest to Rivers State House of Assembly.The protesters numbering over one hundred carrying various inscription like ‘Hope Ikiriko Pay us our Salary’, ‘We are not slaves’ etc marched to the gate of the Assembly.
Speaking to Journalists,Peace Joseph Inam of the leaders of the protesters said the Local Government Chairman has refused to pay them for over one year despite appeal from different quarters.
Mrs Imam disclosed that the LGA Boss allegedly told the unpaid workers that are not from the LGA to go to their LGA. She accused the Chairman of discrimination.
Also speaking Nwisaenee Dornubari Yiznic Secretary of the unpaid workers stated that the workers have written to several Authorities all to no avail. He revealed that the workers were at the Rivers State House of Assembly to inform the Speaker and call on him to intervene in order to save the workers from untold hardship and misery.
Our correspondent reports that the workers presented a protest letter to a Staff of the House who Promised to hand over the letter to the Speaker
