Over two hundred widows drawn from the 23 local government area in Rivers state are undergoing training in various skills to improve their welfare in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The skills acquisition program is sponsored by fifteen Rotary clubs in Port Harcourt in collaboration with the Police Officers Wives Association to empower women and widows of fallen Police Heroes, to live a sustainable life and add value to their families.
President of the Rotary Club Port Harcourt South Sandra Akarolo at the opening of the seven days intensive training in Port Harcourt said various skills to acquire includes Hair making, Baking and production of soaps and beverages.
On his part President of the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt New city, Emeka Okorogba said the initiative is part of Rotary International focus point on community development and empowerment.
on his own part, President of the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Sea Port, Oseme Okoruwa advised participants to pay great attention and focus during the training so as to achieve results that will add values to their lives art the end of the training. He said The Rotary clubs will be happy at the end for impacting their lives,
