One month after the Rivers state government signed an agreement with labor leaders to begin the payment of pension allowance and gratuities, Retirees pension of 2012 to date say nothing has been done to tackle issues or their sufferings.
The secretary of 2012 to 2015 Retirees Isaac Ulang told our correspondent that the pensioners are worried and getting agitated that after the signing of the agreement with labour no news of when the payment is set to begin.
Monday Ulang said the pensioners are worried because their monthly stipend can no longer take care of their aging needs
The state secretary of Retirees under the 2012 to 2015 pensioners Isaac Ulang also threatened that If nothing is done from now to the end of the month to reduce the suffering of the pensioners they would be forced to take the street to press home their demands
He said pensions are suffering from Age related sicknesses such as sugar, diabetics, Blood pressure, loss of eye functions etc., and such their monthly stipends can not buy most those drugs.
he said there is no employment given to youths of the state ever since the governor took over the mantle of leadership, that he has four graduates at him and is still feeding them. Mr. Ulang appeal to the state governor not to play politics with the life of pensioners in the state by ensuring that the pension committee set up the state government are allowed to functions properly
