Police Parade 2 Students, One At Large For Gangrape, Says Room 20 Hostel C In Ignatius Ajuri University Notorious For Gang Raping Female Students

The Rivers state police command has paraded two (2) suspects in connection to the gang rape of a 21 years old 100 level student of Ignatius Ajuru University.
The police public relations officer Nnamdi Omoni while parading the suspects said the matter was reported at Rumuolumeni police station and investigation into the incident began immediately and the CP ordered that the matter be transferred to state criminal investigation department for a more thorough investigation.
He said preliminary investigation reveals that a particular Hostel in the boys hostel known as hostel C in the Ignatius Ajuru University is notorious for raping and assaulting’s women.

SP Nnamdi Omoni said efforts are on to arrest the third suspects who also raped the student and and upon arrest ran away. He said the command would everything necessary to arrest him and make him face judgement

The suspects also confessed to creating hole in the room wall to peep female students they have sex with during the act while others queue up to watch.

The 21 years old victim and a 100 level student victim of the University narrated her ordeal to correspondent Anita Ogona.
Christabel said on the 13th of October 2020 she was heading outside the gate to charge her phone when she met Destiny Nnamdi one of the suspect and they charted he took her to the hostel to charge her phone and he persuaded her into having sex, she said as soon as they were done with having sex, he left the room and shortly after

Two of the suspect arrested in connection to the gang rape 18 years old Destiny Nnamdi and 16 years old  Henry Ovigo Nsirim both students denied raping the victim saying what they had with the victim was consensual sex because she had agreed to have sex in that particular room 20 in block C with them.

Destiny said when they got to the room the appealed to Christabel for sex and they had sex, he went away to allow to continue charging her phone and that he was surprised when the CSO Called him to come back and clear his name on the allege rape of Christabel on the 14th of October 2020, thereafter the CSO Arrested him for conspiracy.

16 years old Henry Ovigo from Oroigwe in Obioakpor said he had been chatting Christabel up for sex upon hearing that she is a soft target for sexual exploits and was surprised to see her having sex with destiny as he peeped through the hole, and that when Destiny was done he also entered the room and chatted her into having sex and left not knowing that a third person will go into the said room and do the same thing.

The Centre For  Basic Rights  Protection And Accountability campaign has condemned the alleged gang rape  of a female student of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education  by three male students of the institution at a hostel inside  the University.
The acting state Secretary of the group Mary Prince called on the Police to ensure thorough investigation into the incident and any suspect found culpable should be made to face the law.
The acting state Secretary of Centre For Basic Rights And Accountability Campaign said “as an organization we have gotten in touch with the Vice Chancellor of the University and the President of Student Union Government, to stress the need for Justice in the matter.
Mary Prince commended the Vice Chancellor of the University Professor Ozo-Ndemele Mercuri and the President of Students Union Government (SUG)  for ensuring the arrest of two suspects and handing them over to the Police. she urge students of the institution to focus on studies and shun acts inimical to school and the society at large
The Vice Chancellor of the University Professor Ozo-Ndemele Mercuri in a text message said ” We have arrested two of the suspects and handed them over to police. We are still searching for the third. Meanwhile, the real occupants of the room have been sent out of the hostel”.
