NLC Not Doing Enough To Ensure Rivers State Pensioners Suffering In The Midst Of Plenty Gets Paid- South South Zonal Chairman

The south south Zonal meeting of the Nigeria union of pensioners have lamented at the high death rate of Retirees in Rivers state who have died without collecting their initial pension allowance and gratuities as alarming and called on the Nigeria labor congress to urgently liaise with Rivers state government to reserve the ugly trend.

The NUP South south Zonal Chairman, PULLIN NORUWA at the south south Zonal meeting said the state NLC is not doing enough to make Rivers state government pay senior citizens their entitlements after a long service period.

He described Rivers state pensioners as the worst treated in Nigeria and despite the huge resources of the stateThe south south Zonal Chairman PULLIN NORUWA also called for the harmonization of pension payments.
He said those who retire 10 to 15 years ago earns low as 2000 naira while those who retire recently earns as much as 50 thousands naira monthly.
For his part the state Chairman of pensioners Collins Nwankwo said all efforts to meet with the state government after their protest was called off have been rebuffed by state government agents.
