Police Finally Arraigns The Inspector Accused Of Killing Keke Driver In A Magistrate Court Sitting In Port Harcourt

Rivers State Police command Today December 21st arraigned a Police Inspector, OBA CHRISTIAN. The forty-six year old police inspector was accused of shooting and killing one Ikechukwu Ikechi, a Keke rider at Elikpokodu Community in Obio/Akpor Local Government, on 10th December 2020.

Arraigning him in the charge sheet number 361, the Rivers State Police Command accused Inspector Oba Christain of killing one Edmond Ikechukwu Ikechi male, by firing him on the left side of his jaw with AK 47 riffle to death and thereby committed an offence punishable under the section 319(1) of the criminal code, Cap 37,Vol.11,Laws of Rivers State of Nigeria 1999.

However, the Chief Magistrate, A.O Amadi Nna declined jurisdiction on the matter and ordered that the case file be transferred to Department of Public Prosecution for advice.

Our Correspondent reports that Chief Magistrate A.O Amadi adjourned the case to 25 February 2021.

The situation Degenerated to the Keke drivers union re-grouping to try and burn down Rumuokoro police station, with about six vehicles parked inside the station vandalized until the police resisted the angry mob by firing back and use of tear gas cannisters to disperse the hoodlums.
