Police Officer Who Assaulted Bus Driver Over Alleged Refusal To Drop #100Naira Bribe Has Been Detained -Rivers CP Reveals

The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CP Joseph Mukan has revealed that the Police Officer who allegedly assaulted a bus driver at Choba/Ada George, Port Harcourt on Monday December 21,2020 has been arrested.
The Commissioner of Police made the revelation when the State Chairman and Choba branch Chairman of Drivers Welfare Association comrade Isaac Lekia and comrade Chile Bestman led the assaulted driver, Saviour Nwidam with other members of the union to the office of the Commissioner of Police on Tuesday December 22nd,2020.
CP Mukan stated that justice will be done in the matter. He  also assured that the officer will be dealt with in line with Police internal disciplinary measures while adding that the command under his watch does not condole indiscipline .The Chairman of Drivers Welfare Association Lekia Isaac in his speech called for synergy between the Police command and the Association to ensure proper monitoring of both drivers and Police officers on the road with a view to ensuring sanity.
The Chairman of Choba branch Bestman Chile thanked CP Mukan for the show of concern, adding that he acted more like a father
The driver Saviour Nwidam  narrated the incident to the Commissioner of Police, how the Police officer entered his vehicle at Agip-junction and asked him to pay 100 naira.
Mr Nwidam disclosed that his refusal to pay the money and insistence on going to the station resulted to the ill-treatment he got from the Police officers.
