Armed Forces Remembrance Day: Widows Beam With Smiles As They Go Home With 30 Million Out Of The 70 Million Naira Empowerment Funds Donated By Gov Wike To The Nigeria Legion In Rivers State


The Nigeria legions has distributed 30 million naira to widows of fallen hero’s across the 23 local government areas in rivers state.
State Chairman of The Nigeria legion Justice Chichi while handing over the cheaque to the state Chairman of Widows of Nigeria Legions said the governor had on the occasion of the armed forces remembrance day donated 70 million for the welfare of the widows of the fallen heroes.
He said the prompt release of the funds for immediate disbursement will go a long way to wipe away tears from the eyes of  widows in the state and thanked Governor Nyesom Wike for for his fatherly disposition towards the widows, retired and children of the fallen Hero’s.

JUSTICE CHICHI also said the remaining 40 Million would be used to cater for the scholarship programs for the children of the fallen hero’s from the 23 LGA in the State.

Receiving the money on behalf of the Legion widows, state Leader of Widows In Rivers state madam Theresa C. PEPPLE said one of the major challenges they have with widows is is that a lot of them have refused to register with the association and would go out  carrying fake information of how they have been disenfranchised. she said all registered member would be beneficiary of the 30million received by her exco on behalf of the widows, as they operate with cooperatives in the 23local government areas of the state.  she also said they will use every technological means to distribute the funds to ensure no one is cheated out of the process.
