The victim of the OSPAC brutality Gabriel Jeremiah is presently writing his statement at Rumuji Divisional Police station. He was accompanied by comrade, Baron Wisdom. Meanwhile a Special unit of Rivers State Police command has raided OSPAC office in Rumukpe on Sunday afternoon and arrested two OSPAC personnel.
Information at our disposal indicate that the raid of OSPAC office and arrest of OSPAC members at Rumukpe was not carried out by Rumuji Divisional Police headquarters but a special Police unit. We are yet to ascertain the unit. Police officers who pleaded anonymity in Rumuji Divisional Headquarters confirm the raid but said the officers are not from their station.
we also know that Rumuji Divisional Police headquarters may not have the desired capacity to raid OSPAC office in Rumuokoro.
Meanwhile Human Rights advocates, Centre for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign commends Rivers State Police command led by CP Joseph Mukan for the arrest of OSPAC members in Rumukpe in Emohua Local Government Area for butchering one wisdom Gabriel Jeremiah, from OVELLE nvakohia clan of Rumuekpe on allegation that he threw a dead snake in one of their member’s house claiming that their god found him guilty of the act.
Two OSPAC members have been arrested this afternoon and are detained in Rumuji Divisional Police headquarters.
Centre for Basic Rights calls for thorough investigation into the incident with a view to bringing perpetrator(s) to book to serve as deterrents to others.
