The first shipment of the lifesaving #COVID19 vaccines arrived in Nigeria this morning. With this, we are one step closer to ending the pandemic!

UNICEF and partners says they won’t stop until everyone is safe.

Nigeria received nearly 4 million doses of the #COVID19 vaccine, shipped via the COVAX Facility, a partnership between CEPI, Gavi,

UNICEF and WHO.
The arrival marked a historic step towards the goal to ensure equitable distribution of #COVID19 vaccines globally, in what will be the largest vaccine procurement and supply operation in history.
This is coming exactly 368 days after Nigeria detected her first case,  to receive her 1st shipment of 4million doses of #COVID19Vaccine.
We are grateful to the #COVAX facility for this timely intervention.

The World Health Organisation says “Vaccine hesitancy is something that will happen, and we need to work now in addressing the different ways of helping the communities and individuals overcome their own fears, because at the end of the day, if they protect themselves, they are protecting their families and communities.”

“The quicker we get people vaccinated, the less likely the pandemic will overtake. That is why it’s so key that Nigeria gets this amount, this quickly. The COVAX facility has done extremely well to bring this amount 3.94 million doses into Nigeria today, which is a fantastic achievement.” – UNICEF Nigeria Representative Peter Hawkins on the delivery of #COVID19 vaccines to Nigeria says This is an unprecedented global effort to make sure everyone has access to vaccines.
