Elimgbu Police Arrest Landlord For Removing Roof, Doors & Windows Of Tenant Owing Him Rent In Port Harcourt

The Elimgbu Police Division has arrested a Landlord who allegedly sent thugs to break into apartment of his tenant at
road 4 pipeline Rumuokwusi Port Harcourt, Owing him rent.

The thugs also carted away the tenant’s plasma Television and vandalized the door and window, ransacked his house. the police said the matter would be charged to court.
However Centre for Basic rights and accountability campaign  have always advised that landlord should consult a Lawyer to advise appropriately and not resort to self help if a tenant is owing Rent.
The Coordinator for center for Basic Rights Campaign PRINCE WIRO Said Removing of roof, breaking doors and Windows of a tenant, or locking the tenant’s door is an offence. We know some tenants can be provocative But Consequences of resorting to self help is more expensive than hiring a lawyer
