The presence of more security reinforcement is not going down well with some residents of bundu-ama in the town axis of port Harcourt.
Security was reinforced at the Port Harcourt Correctional center, as well as the various police stations over fears of possible attacks by gunmen.
our correspondent reports that the Moscow road axis of port Harcourt township which houses the Police head quarters, The ABALI police Station under the mile flyover is also condoned off to Motorist and passerby and traffic diverted else where leaving the AZIKIWE ROAD constantly busy with vehicular congestions
This is also coming four days after A Biafra Nations League (BNL), a secessionist group in the South-South threatened to unleash mayhem on oil companies in Port Harcourt over banning of United Igbo Communities meeting by Governor Nyesom Wike.
Recall tha Governor Nyesom Wike had in a statement by Paulinus Nsirim, the commissioner for information and communications banned the meeting over security reasons.
But BNL in a statement signed by its Deputy National Leader and Head of Operations, Ebuta Takon, and the Chief of Staff, Linus Essien, accused Wike of threatening Igbos from the South-East over activities of Nnamdi Kanu’s led Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
The deployment of these security reinforcement may not be unconnected to the threat, But the state government have deployed armed police teams to the prisons while residents of the area were subjected to regular search by the police operatives before they are allowed to pass.
