Rivers State Police Command To Block All Entry And Exit Point From 12Midnight On Friday To 2PM On Saturday 17th April 2021 Over Local Government Elections

The Rivers state police command has announced restrictions of movement of persons, vehicles or any mechanical propelled engine either on land or waterways between 12 midnight on Friday 16th April 2021 to 2pm on Saturday 17th April 2021.
A statement issued by the commissioner of police Eboka Friday and signed by the the state police public relations officer Nnamdi Omoni also barred the movement of important personalities or politician from going to any voting center with their security details.
He said movement is only from their house to the voting centers and back as provided in the Electoral Acts.

The statement said all entry and exit points to the state state will be completely blocked until the election are over and no commercial activity will be allowed close to the polling units.
The statement also said security agencies will be moving rounds to ensure that there is strict compliance to this order. And will arrest possible violators and prosecute.

PRESS RELEASE
RIVERS POLICE RESTRICTS MOVEMENT AND INTENSIFIES SECURITY FOR THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTIONS.

The Rivers State Police Command wishes to inform the general public and indeed residents of the State that in view of the forthcoming Local Government Elections scheduled to hold on Saturday 17th April 2021, adequate Security has been emplaced to ensure that the exercise is conducted in a peaceful atmosphere.

To realize the full objectives of the Council Elections and engender a seamless exercise, the Command has deployed a total of seventeen thousand five hundred (17,500) personnel to be complemented by deployments from other Sister Security Agencies, aimed at providing safety, Security and the due maintenance of Law and Order, before, during and after the Elections.

2. The Commissioner of Police and Chairman of the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Elections Security, CP Eboka Friday has after a Meeting of the Agencies and other bodies directly charged with the responsibility to superintend over the Elections agreed to make the following Orders, to wit:-
a. That on restriction of movement of persons, vehicles or any mechanically propelled engine either on land or waterways the State Government will make appropriate Order to that effect which will be duly enforced by the Police and other Security Agencies. The restriction Order so made by the

Government will supersede and override the earlier Order made by the Police.
b. That very important personalities (VIPs) or Politicians are barred from going to any voting center with their Security details. Movement is only allowed from their houses to the voting centers and back, as provided by the Electoral Act.
c. All Entry and Exit points to the State will be completely blocked until the Elections are over. No commercial activities will be allowed close to the polling Units.
d. The Police and other Security Agencies will be moving round to ensure that there is strict compliance to this Order and possibly arrest and prosecute violators.
Once again, the Commissioner of Police Rivers State, CP Eboka Friday, appeals for the continued support and cooperation of the members of the public in this regard. As this is intended to provide a conducive atmosphere to conduct free, fair and violence free Election that will stand the test of time.
