Centre For Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign Calls For Investigation And Prosecution Of Naval Officer Fingered As Sponsor Of Suspected Illegal Oil Bunkerers In Rivers

The Centre for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign has called on the authority of Nigeria Naval Ship(NNS) pathfinder, Rumuolumeni, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State and the Naval authority in Nigeria to immediately investigate and prosecute one Mohammed Miike who was fingered by a suspect paraded by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Rivers State command on Friday 16,April,2021 as the Naval officer who gave them Naval attire and contracted them for an illegal oil bunkering work in a vessel when they were arrested by officials of NNS pathfinder .No description available.
We call on the Naval authority to ensure that the said officer accused of contracting the eight suspects for illegal oil bunkering job is prosecuted if found culpable.
As much as we commend the NNS pathfinder for handing over the eight arrested suspects to the NSCDC for further investigation, it is incumbent on NNS pathfinder to ensure their officer fingered by the suspects is brought to book if found culpable in order to show the public that it does not tolerate criminal activities and misconduct of any form by its operatives .
Centre for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign equally urge the Naval authority to conclude investigation into the allegation made against its operative in record time and make the outcome of the investigation public so as to boast public confidence on the Nigerian Navy.

Prince Wiro,
National Coordinator,
Centre for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign.
